Arsene Wenger has admitted he faces a regular selection headache in deciding whether Alexandre Lacazette or Olivier Giroud should lead the Arsenal line.

Wenger has generally preferred record signing Lacazette in the Premier League this season and has been rewarded with five goals in nine Premier League appearances for the former Lyon striker.

Lacazette netted his first away from home in Sunday’s 5-2 hammering of Everton days after Giroud had done his own credentials no harm with a spectacular winner in the Europa League against Red Star Belgrade.

Giroud may have spent his five years at Arsenal being dogged by questions over whether he could be the first-choice striker in a title contender but he has always had a staunch supporter in Wenger, who insists the talent gap is minimal between the two French internationals vying for a starting role.

"Giroud, Lacazette -- it's a never-ending debate. I think both of them are very good players," Wenger told SFR Sport.

“For me there's no difference, and each time it's very hard to decide who starts.”

Sunday’s win at Goodison Park was the first time Wenger has fielded the ‘big three’ of Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, injury having kept the latter two out of the side at times this season.

Wenger was rewarded with Arsenal’s most formidable display of the season as each of his trio found the net to turn a 1-0 deficit into a commanding win.

But Wenger is convinced there is even more to come from his attacking trident.

“There are still things to improve, but we created a lot of chances through our team movement, and if you add [Aaron] Ramsey with his penetrating runs, we caused Everton a lot of problems,” he said.

“After that, it's easier for everyone to express themselves. I'm satisfied with the way we played. Our movement was good, and the quality of our passing was good.

“We were tested mentally because we were losing 1-0. We got back into the game, and we finished the match in a very convincing way.”
