Asmir Begovic has responded to questions about a potential summer switch to Celtic with Joe Hart retiring.

The experienced Bosnian, 36, has been linked with a move to Parkhead to replace the outgoing Hart who confirmed he'd be hanging up his gloves earlier this term. There have been numerous stoppers mentioned in relation to Brendan Rodgers' search for a new number one and QPR star Begovic has always been on that list.

Asked directly about the Hoops' apparent interest in his services, the former Chelsea and Bournemouth goalie remained rather tight-lipped on the subject as he admitted he plans to wait and see what comes of his talks at Loftus Road.

“I am currently looking at options, talking to obviously QPR and see what happens there, see what happens in the next few weeks, it is still pretty early in the transfer window," he told talkSPORT. "Nothing has been decided yet. I am keeping myself fit. I really enjoyed last year, the fact that I played so many games.

“In the second half of the season, for us, the team became together really well. Let’s see if we can keep this group of players together, have another run at it next year, see what else is out there and take it from there.”

Begovic is among a host of names linked with Celts including the likes of Koen Casteels, Ugurcan Cakir, Daniel Peretz and the perma-linked Caoimhin Kelleher.
