Oh dear...

FULL-TIME: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
The missed chance from Chong proved to be crucial. Just 38 seconds after the forward missed an open goal Astana scored their opener, before a Bernard own goal gave the hosts the victory.
The result matters little for United, though, they were already through and used this match to give invaluable experience to their youth side. No fewer than seven debuts were handed out this afternoon. They started well but perhaps their inexperience told in the second half.
91 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
Last chance for the visitors as Lingard dances into the area before being tackled. There's a huge cheer as the Astana fans think that's it.
87 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
The ball falls to Levitt 30 yards out and the youngster - who has had a good game - fires high and wide.
84 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
Still little of note happening - United seeing a lot of the ball but still failing to take a risk in a bid to create that all important chance.
82 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
Bit of a lull at the moment - United failing to create much while seeing much off the ball.

76 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
United go close twice in quick succession.
First, Eric makes a fine save from a Gomes free-kick. Then the keeper make another great stop from the impressive Greenwood.
Astana aces
74 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
Another chance for the hosts who look a different side this half. Murtazayev whips the ball at gaol from the left-hand side of the box but sees his shot just go wide.
71 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
Great counter-attack from Astana sees Sigurjonsson have the freedom of the United box, the Man Utd fan hits it first time on the half-volley but it goes wide. Could and should have taken a touch.
68 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
United haven't taken enough risks in the final third this half - they haven't - Chong's miss aside - created a chance.
Astana's opener
64 mins: Astana 2-1 Man Utd
That Chong miss is looking more crucial with every minute. As if to put him out of his misery Solskjaer takes him off the pitch after the hour mark.
WHAT. A. MISS

GOAL! Astana 2-1 Man Utd
From nowhere the hosts are ahead.
They put several passes together in and round the box for the first time this afternoon and the ball finds Rukavina on the right who fires in low cross which Bernard can only deflect into his own net. Grant had no chance.
58 mins: Astana 1-1 Man Utd
Shaw this time defends well at the back post and heads away danger as Astana launch another attack. The hosts looking more dangerous - not tough considering how limp they were in the first period.
GOAL! Astana 1-1 Man Utd
No sooner than I rubbished Astana's chances of scoring they go and score...apols to United fans...
38 seconds after Chong's wonder miss the hosts work the ball up the left before finding Shomko in the area, the Kazakhstan international hits a left-foot shot beating Grant in the United goal.
Not sure where that came from, but we finally have a match on our hands.
54 mins: Astana 0-1 Man Utd
What. A. Chance.
Chong fires over with an empty net - cliche alert - it was easier to score. Will they regret that miss? Based on the match so far I'm going to answer NO!
52 mins: Astana 0-1 Man Utd
United's young guns passing the ball around well but with little purpose. Someone needs to be brave and take on an Astana player in a bid to get in behind - if only to break the monotony of this match, which, if truth be told, isn't the most exciting...
49 mins: Astana 0-1 Man Utd
Astana seeing more of the ball so far this half and more of the territory. Grant is forced into an easy save from a Murtazayev header.
47 mins: Astana 0-1 Man Utd
Astana nearly score through the boot of United's Bernard. The defender clears a cross close to the penalty spot but nearly fires it into his own net, the ball going just over the bar for a corner.
45 mins: Astana 0-1 Man Utd
The second half is underway, will we see a bit more intensity from Astana? The game dearly needs it.
HALF-TIME: Astana 0-1 Man Utd
That was all too easy for United. The teenagers will have had tougher tests in the EFL Trophy against Rotherham and Doncaster than during that first-half in Astana.
They've looked composed on the ball, not least because they have so much time on the ball. Astana have sat backed and not pressed at all.
Fair to say Solskjaer will be very happy with the first 45 minutes.
Scoring boots found...
29 - Jesse Lingard has scored just his second goal of 2019 for Manchester United, and his first in 29 appearances in all competitions since netting against Arsenal in the FA Cup in January, 307 days ago - this was his longest run without a goal at club level. Beans. pic.twitter.com/cqZ2wnEZFc

42 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Sigurjonsson may be a life-long United fan but he's clearly forgotten about his allegiance as he clatters into Lingard. the United captain is in pain and down for a minute before gingerly getting back to his feet. Sigurjonsson gets a yellow card for his troubles...
37 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Astana seeing a bit more of the ball but struggling to create anything that could be described as a chance.
United still looking good on the ball with Greenwood works a chance on the left and fires at Eric in the Astana goal.
United they stand
31 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Lingard fires from outside the box - not for the first time this afternoon - and it gets a wicked deflection off Postnikov and loops over Eric in the goal for a corner - It looked like it was going to hit the back of the net for a while.
28 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Rotariu - who looks like Astana's best player - again puts Shaw under pressure and fires just wide from outside the box. Warning signs for United?
26 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Under 30 mins in and United have already completed 215 passes. They've looked composed and confident when on the ball so far.
24 mins: Astana 0-1 United
The hosts are seeing a bit more of the ball at the moment. Maevski meanders with the ball on the edge of the box before firing wide - first real bit of play from Astana.

19 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Shock in Nur-Sultan as Astana have an attempt on goal. A poor mistake from Shaw at the back post lets in Rotariu who fires wide. Shaw may have been out for 96 days but there are no excuses for falling asleep there.
17 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Astana are putting United under no pressure at all when they are on the ball. Lingard has an age to pick his spot on the edge of the area, he's not able to keep the ball down and it goes over the ball.
14 mins: Astana 0-1 United
Astana look flat at the moment. They've barely touched the ball and already this match is being played at half-pace. This has the feel of the hosts simply aiming to avoid a big defeat - bizarre considering the inexperience of United and the fact Astana are at home in front of a packed stadium.
I keep saying United's side are young but here's stat...
36 - Aged 36 years and 305 days old, Lee Grant is the oldest ever player to make his debut in major European competition for @ManUtd (excluding qualifiers). Paradox. pic.twitter.com/S9pCiLDBob

GOAL!! Astana 0-1 United
Lingard marks his captaincy debut with a fine strike. Taking a pass from Shaw on the right-hand side just outside the box, the England man fires in a low shot into the far corner of the net. Simple and effective. It's his first goal for 28 matches and the perfect start for this young side.
9 mins: Astana 0-0 Man Utd
Greenwood and Gomes are both looking lively for United as the visitors dominate possession. Astana seem happy to sit back.
7 mins: Astana 0-0 Man Utd
Lingard twices plays in Greenwood in quick succession - the first attempt goes straight to the keeper, the youngster fails to get on the end of the other. Good signs for the visitors.
5 mins: Astana 0-0 Man Utd
These players play a lot with each other and it tells - they are passing the ball around confidently and moving well. No chances created yet but a lot of possession.
3 mins: Astana 0-0 Man Utd
The hosts put United under early pressure and win a corner. It comes to nothing and the visitors take the ball up the other end and pass the ball around with confidence. Not a bad start to the match for Solskjaer's men.
1 min: Astana 0-0 Man Utd
We're underway as United's youngest ever side to take the field in a European tie try to make a statement in Kazakhstan.
The sides are out
Jesse Lingard, 10 years at United captains for the first time.
It's a packed stadium under a closed roof and the match will be played on a 4G pitch so don't worry too much about the players' well-being once the match kicks off.
A feel-good story
It's freezing in Nur-Sultan but here's a tale to warm the hearts of anyone. This time last year Max Taylor had cancer, tonight he's on the bench for Solskjaer, here's Luke Edwards on his remarkable journey...
Will Mason make his mark again?
Last time out against Astana, Mason Greenwood scored his first Man Utd goal.

A bit of a history lesson for you...
Some of the eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that Astana seemingly no longer play in Astana - the match taking place in Nur-Sultan.
Well, for some reasons I haven't had the time (nor, to be honest, much of an inclination...) to find out about, Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, changed its name to Nur-Sultan this March...Obviously you are all aware that the metropolis became the capital city of the Central Asian republic back in 1997, taking over from Almaty.
That's the history lesson concerning Kazakh capitals over with...back to the football...
A big night for Luke Shaw
He is fighting to save his Manchester United career after falling behind young Brandom Williams in the pecking order, as Luke Edwards, our man in Kazakhstan reported earlier this week:
Shaw has not played since he picked up a serious hamstring problem in August and has struggled with injuries since he made a £30m move – a then world record for a teenager - from Southampton in the summer of 2014.
United had been planning to sign another left back in the January window as Solskjaer wanted Shaw to have some competition but has been delighted with the emergence of the 19-year-old Williams.
That has led him to cancel any move for a full back, but it is not good news for Shaw, who needs to prove himself to the Norwegian.
Worryingly for the 24-year-old, who will tonight make his first appearance for almost three months, Williams is now viewed as the better player by his manager.

How cold is it in Nur-Sultan right now?
Really, really, really cold.
Look:
A young team head out into the cold
As expected, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named an inexperienced team for this Europa League game, with qualification from the group already confirmed.

Lee Grant, Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard provide the know-how in a team that includes three debutants in Di'Shon Bernard, Ethan Laird and Dylan Levitt.
243 previous Man Utd starts between this 11. Shaw and Lingard have 224 of them, the other nine just 19. The entire 11 have started fewer United games between them than Chris Smalling has done on his own. https://t.co/zjV7yJJYGu

Let's hope this young side are ready to enthusiastically run around out there. It's cold in Nur-Sultan right now. Like, really cold.
Oh, and for all the Astana fans reading this live blog, here's how the home side will line-up:
Eric, Rukavina, Logvinenko, Postnikov, Shomko, Maevski, Sigurjonsson, Beysebekov, Rotariu, Murtazayev, Khizhnichenko
