Aston Villa supporters deliver Crystal Palace verdicts as Unai Emery questioned
Aston Villa supporters have been having their say after their side were thrashed 4-1 by Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.
Ismaila Sarr opened the scoring for the hosts, with Morgan Rogers briefly restoring parity at the start of the second half. However, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Sarr’s second put the Eagles back in total control at Selhurst Park.
Eddie Nketiah then added a fourth in stoppage time to complete the rout. And Villa supporters reacting to the defeat believe that Unai Emery has to take some of the responsibility for the setback.

Villian said: “Unai Emery has undoubtedly done a fantastic job since arriving at Villa, however the goals against are extremely poor with no signs of them improving. We can moan about injuries etc., but truth be told it is our tactics. Stubbornly sticking to a style of play which the players can’t adapt to is proving to be suicidal. Surely the time has come to modify the way we instruct our defenders to play, and adopt a way that works for them.”
Commenter Mickmark wrote: “I think Emery got it wrong from the off. Strange selection. Thought McGinn was too deep, playing most of the game facing his own defence. I can't count the number of times we lost possession. Looked very tired. They wanted it more.
"After this result and with some very difficult games to come, I think we will now struggle to make Europe. Need to win the FA Cup and European Cup, but on tonight's performance it doesn't look like it.”
Therealwaysbeanengland said: “Possibly Unai Emery's worst game. The team selection, tactics and substitutions were all poor, no Prem game at the weekend so why not play your best team?”
Mel1787 agreed, saying: “Unai got it all wrong tonight sadly for Villa. Some baffling decisions re: team selection and substitutions.”

Crichy said: “How can you leave Rashford, Asensio and Malen on the bench, when they looked like our most dangerous players in recent games? Playing out from the back is yet again costing us soft goals. I'm sorry Emery, this loss is on you for a shocking team selection.”
MikeyVillan wrote: “Call me controversial but the blame has to fall on Emery - a bizarre decision to change the formation & strange team selection that offered no attacking intent. The defenders all looked lost. Very weird from Emery, we've blown Europe now.”
