Unai Emery has named his Aston Villa starting XI to take on West Ham in the Premier League this afternoon.

He has opted to make one change to the side which lost 1-0 to Monaco at the Stade Louis II in midweek. In comes Jacob Ramsey for Emi Buendia, who takes his place on the bench among the likes of Jhon Duran, Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia.

From back to front, Emi Martinez starts in goal behind a defence of Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne. Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans operate in the double pivot, while Leon Bailey plays off the right and Ramsey on the left. Morgan Rogers supports Ollie Watkins in attack.

Opponents West Ham lost 2-1 at Villa Park in the FA Cup a fortnight ago and have only led at half time in three Premier League games this season, the joint-lowest tally in the division. Nonetheless, they've only failed to score in one of their 10 top-flight away fixtures in 2024-25 – a 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in November.

Villa are looking to complete their first league double over West Ham since 2010-11, having won 2-1 away on the opening weekend of the season. West Ham's 4-1 defeat in last season's corresponding fixture ended a five-match unbeaten run at Villa Park in the Premier League.

Villa starting XI: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne, Kamara, Tielemans, Bailey, Rogers, Ramsey, Watkins.

Subs: Olsen, Zych, Bogarde, Garcia, Maatsen, McGinn, Malen, Buendia, Duran.

West Ham starting XI: Areola, Coufal, Wan-Bissaka, Kilman, Cressswell, Emerson, Alvarez, Soucek, Soler, Paqueta, Kudus.

Subs: Fabianski, Foderingham, Guilherme, Ings, Rodriguez, Irving, Casey, Scarles, Orford.
