ATP Rankings: Daniil Medvedev can break back into to four
Former World No 1 Daniil Medvedev can move back into top four of the ATP Rankings if things go his way in Miami.
Medvedev can take fourth spot on the rankings from Casper Ruud if he wins the Miami Open.
If that does happen, Ruud will split the two Russians in the top ten after Andrey Rublev secured a small rankings bump that was enough to move him above Felix Auger-Aliassime.
However, Rublev could still drop back down the rankings.
Both Italian Jannik Sinner and American Taylor Fritz could move up as high as sixth if they go on to win the title in Miami, as can world No 14 Karen Khachanov.
For World No 1 Carlos Alcaraz to hold onto the top spot he needs to win the Miami Open and complete the Sunshine Double, any other result will see Novak Djokovic return to the top of the ladder.
Fritz will secure a move above Holger Rune, whom he beat in the Round of 16 if he wins his quarter-final showdown with Alcaraz and ends the Spaniards reign as the world No 1, and wins again in the semi-final.
Jannik Sinner is set to move back into the top ten following Hubert Hurkacz’s Round of 32 loss.
For Sinner to move even higher, he will need to notch more wins in Miami.
If Fritz loses to Alcaraz and Sinner beats Emil Ruusuvuori, the Italian will leapfrog the American, if he goes all the way, he will be able to rise as high as No 6 which would be a new career-high for the 21-year-old.
Ruusuvuori is already guaranteed a massive jump himself as he moves into the top 50 thanks to his Miami Open exertions.
The Finn is set to jump up at least 17 places (to world No 37) but he could potentially move up as high as world No 21 if he somehow manages to pull off a remarkable title win at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Another player already guaranteed a huge jump is Christopher Eubanks who heads into his quarter-final clash with Medvedev knowing he will surge up at least 34 places on the rankings.
Eubanks could surge into the top 30 if he pulls off a shock Miami Open win.
Francisco Cerundolo needs another win to match his 2022 performance but to make a rankings charge of any sort he will need to reach his first ATP Masters final.
