Reds speedster Suliasi Vunivalu has been named in Dave Rennie’s Wallabies squad amongst several newcomers to the 35-man squad to face England next month.

The code-hopper has immense physical talent and has shown that in glimpses during the Super Rugby Pacific season but has struggled with injury since joining the Reds last year.

New faces

Jed Holloway, Dave Porecki, Caderyn Neville, Pone Fa’amausili and Nick Frost all earn their first call-up alongside Vunivalu.

Meanwhile, as confirmed earlier this week, the experienced trio Quade Cooper, Samu Kerevi and Marika Karoibete are Rennie’s overseas picks for the series with Michael Hooper captaining the side.

The Brumbies make up the largest contingent of the squad following their impressive season that saw the side crash out in the semi-finals against the Blues.

Rennie explained he opted for continuity in the squad whilst also rewarding form from a resurgent season by Australian teams in Super Rugby Pacific.

“The core of this squad is a group who have performed strongly for us over the last two seasons, while strong form in Super Rugby Pacific has been rewarded with a handful of new faces,” said Rennie in a statement.

“The past two years have allowed us to build strong foundations as a group but there’s no doubt that we have a lot more in us.

“We’re looking forward to working hard and preparing as a group to put in performances that make our supporters proud against England next month.”
