Confirmed: Austrian Grand Prix to stay on F1 calendar until at least 2027
Formula 1 will continue to head to the Red Bull Ring for several more years yet, with the sport announcing a contract extension for the Austrian Grand Prix until at least 2027.
The news on Thursday came with a four-year contract extension for Formula 1 to head to Austria, with the Red Bull Ring having been back on the calendar permanently since 2014 and hosting two races each in the COVID-19 affected 2020 and 2021 seasons.
It’s a popular venue for fans to attend as well, with fierce support for Red Bull Max Verstappen in particular, with a grandstand at the circuit set up in his honour and thousands of orange-clad supporters in attendance each year.
A sell-out 303,000 fans are expected to attend this season’s edition of the Austrian Grand Prix in early July, and the sport has now confirmed the country’s place on the calendar is secure for a further four years.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “The Austrian Grand Prix brings together the perfect mix of a challenging track, high-speed racing, and a beautiful venue for our fans, so I am delighted that we will be coming back to the Red Bull Ring until at least 2027 under this new agreement.
