Awards, aims and a chance to help those in need
By Ross Parkinson - Carlisle United Supporters' Trust
I’m writing this article on Tuesday night having just watched the young Blues exit the FA Youth Cup after a 4-2 defeat by Plymouth.
It was a game where the boys can take a lot of positives from their performances and also a lesson about being ruthless in both boxes as they had more than matched their Championship opponents throughout the 120 minutes but were undone with some clinical finishing and a failure to take their own chances.
It will however be good memory as they were backed by over 700 Blues in the ground.
Back to first team affairs and games being called off is one of the most frustrating things for a football fan. Your Saturday plans out of the window, and thousands of fans around the country at a loss with how to spend their Saturday afternoon.
For me it consisted of a trip to the barbers, a wander round town then off to a friend’s 40th birthday party. Not a bad day at all. Still missing that football fix mind.
Now we can look forward to the visit of Chesterfield on Saturday. Before that game, however, Carlisle United Supporters’ Trust along with the Community Sports Trust are hosting a foodbank collection in the study centre (behind the Warwick Road End).
This is to assist those in the local area who are struggling at this time of year and to give those in need assistance.

Some of the board will be manning this so please feel free to come have a chat; whether you want to ask a question, give us a suggestion or just talk about the Blues we’ll be happy to see you.
We go into Saturday’s game with our head coach having been nominated for the League Two manager of the month award. This nomination recognises the improvement in our results and performances over the last few weeks which has seen us go unbeaten.
As I’ve said previously we are starting to see more and more of the style that has brought Mike Williamson success so far in his career and there is a steely determination in our defending, led by Sam Lavelle who has also been nominated for an award, that is allowing us to pick up results where last season we may have crumbled.
That said we are not resting on our laurels and moving up the table is the club’s number one priority.
Let’s go get that home win. Up the Blues.
