Axel Disasi urges Chelsea caution after 'crazy' win over Tottenham

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi insists it is too early to say Monday night’s win at Tottenham is a turning point for the Blues under Mauricio Pochettino.

Nicolas Jackson scored a hat-trick, as Chelsea secured their biggest result of the season to move up to 10th in the Premier League.

But they toiled against nine men and almost conceded an equaliser before sealing the game.

Chelsea face champions Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and head coach Pochettino said beating Spurs will help his young side build confidence.

But Disasi admits there are still areas they need to improve.

Asked if Monday night was a statement win, the France international said: “It’s too early to talk about this, we just want to enjoy the win and must prepare for the big game on Sunday.

“We are a young group and the victory will give us a lot of confidence for the future.

“It was a crazy game. We have to take this win and learn from this game, because we can do some things much better. But we are happy and the fans are happy.”

After a shaky start in which Chelsea went 1-0 down, Pochettino felt his side managed the emotion of the night well and deserved to win.

The Argentine said: “We forced them to make too many mistakes. Tottenham were better in the first 15 minutes and then I think we bossed the game, our performance was good and forced them into making mistakes. If you look at everything you could see during the game, I think it was fair.

“That’s why overall I think the performance was good, because we arrived in a different moment from Tottenham. They were top of the table and winning and playing very well, full of confidence.

“For us, it was to come here to play the leader in the best situation we can. This performance showed that we were really good.

“We have played really well from the start of the season, deserved more, but in the end it is about winning points.

“It was important to come here to Tottenham and win against a team playing really well. It could be an important three points for us, to help us now start to push up the table.”
