Ayr United win the internet as club make major Scott Brown announcement
Scott Brown and Steven Whittaker have both extended their Ayr United contracts after the boss pulled out of the running to become St Johnstone manager.
Brown was linked with the job at McDiarmid Park to replace Craig Levein after he was sacked by owner Adam Webb following a poor start to the season. The Premiership side immediately identified Brown as a possible candidate they hoped to chat with about the job with the Honest Men beginning their season in the Championship on top form.
But after Brown rejected the opportunity, Ayr looked to move quickly to have the Celtic hero pen an extension at Somerset Park and the media team had fun with their announcement.

In the vein of Martin Scorcese's Wolf of Wall Street and the famous "I'm not leaving" scene, Brown's face was photoshopped onto main character Leonardo di Caprio's Jordan Belfort with the announcement.
They wrote: "Ayr United can confirm that Scott Brown & Steven Whittaker have signed extended contracts at Somerset Park until 2027."
Fans loved the banter with the club's social team with one writing: "Brilliant by the club," and another said: "Class."
