Azhar earns Champions Trophy recall for Pakistan

Kamran Akmal made way for his younger brother Umar in Pakistan's Champions Trophy squad, with Azhar Ali given another chance.

Former Pakistan ODI captain Azhar Ali has earned a recall for the Champions Trophy.

Azhar led Pakistan's 50-over side to a 4-1 series defeat in Australia, playing in three games in which he contributed a paltry 37 runs.

Umar Akmal also returns, having also been dropped at the end of the Australia series, in which he scored 131 runs at 32.75.

His older brother Kamran Akmal makes way, after he was called up for the tour of West Indies and averaged 22.66.

Fahim Ashraf is the only uncapped player in a squad which will be captained by Sarfraz Ahmed. Right-arm medium bowler Ashraf averages 26.36 in List A action.
