Baez crushed two home runs and had three RBIs as the Cubs beat the Detroit Tigers 9-3.
Alec Mills struck out seven over seven innings as the Cubs improved to 18-10.
Pujols had an RBI as the Los Angeles Angels fell to the Houston Astros 11-4.
It was his 2,087th RBI, passing Rodriguez and sitting behind only Hank Aaron (2,297), according to Elias.
Astros pitcher Framber Valdez starred, striking out 11 in seven innings for Houston.

Lance Lynn struck out eight in six innings as the Texas Rangers ended an eight-game losing streak by beating the Oakland Athletics 3-2.
Minnesota Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda also improved to 4-0. He struck out seven and conceded just one run in five innings in a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Jesus Aguilar went three-of-five and had three RBIs in the Miami Marlins' 11-8 win against the Washington Nationals.
Patrick Sandoval was poor in the Angels' loss. He conceded seven hits and five runs in 2.2 innings in the loss to the Astros.
Pujols delivered an RBI that saw him pass Rodriguez.
