France and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is a man of his word – he’s keeping his pre-World Cup promise to save his head.

Giroud made the bald, bold claim that he would chop off his locks should his nation lift the trophy.

The 31-year-old, who failed to score in the tournament, was one of several Les Bleus who declared wacky forfeits and now they are coming under pressure to honour those vows.

But Giroud is not prepared to do the deed just yet – he is waiting until after Sunday, following his son’s baptism.

Nabil Fekir and Hugo Lloris will also get in on the act, both having their locks shorn, with Lloris also enduring a pub-crawl in Nice.

Giroud revealed: “I only have one rule… so I will respect it. My wife wants me to do it after the baptism of our son on Sunday.

“Hugo Lloris also said he’d do it.”

Other France players set to keep their word are Blaise Matuidi, who said he would cycle from Paris to Turin and Adil Rami will have to fight Teddy Riner.

Thomas Lemar is not going to the extreme of Giroud and Lloris, however – he has said he will simply dye his hair.
