Patrick Bamford has said that he is looking forward to working with Leeds United’s signings after they made a solid first impression.

The Whites have wasted no time in bolstering their ranks ahead of the new season. After last term’s Premier League relegation scare, six new arrivals have come in already.

Four of those are in midfield, with Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams and Marc Roca looking to hit the ground running in the first team. Former Manchester City youngster Darko Gyabi has also moved to Elland Road but may have to wait for first-team minutes.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Kristensen is a new right-back option and Luis Sinisterra is an exciting goalscoring prospect for Leeds.

Speaking to Leeds Live, Bamford admitted that new signings first have to fit into the group, regardless of their talent.

And he added that Whites boss Jesse Marsch has picked well on that front, with all six new players now focusing on their football.

“Top lads,” Bamford said when asked for his verdict on the new cohort. “I think the most important thing with any new signings, and we’ve got a fair few, is that they’re good lads and fit into the group.

“It doesn’t matter how good a player you are, if you’re not a good lad, a bad egg, then it doesn’t quite fit.”

Bamford hails impressive Leeds signings

“But all of these lads are top guys and they fit in seamlessly,” 28-year-old striker Bamford added.

“I think this trip is really important for them as well because you do get to know them better. But as I said, they’re proper good lads and I think we’re going to enjoy playing with them.

“There’s no pressure on them. You know some of them because they’re good players. I think the most important thing was fitting in to the group.

“They’ve done that so then they take as much time as they need to bed in football wise.”

Leeds star looking for refresh

While Leeds have made fresh additions to their squad this summer, Bamford himself is looking for a fresh start.

He impressed in the club’s first season back in the Premier League in 2020/21, scoring 17 Premier League goals.

However, an injury-plagued season last term saw Bamford’s progress stall. As such, he himself will be looking to make an impression again.

And he will have extra motivation given there are new partnerships for him to build, with Sinisterra up front and the likes of Adams and Roca in midfield.

Overall, Leeds are looking for more stability and will hope Bamford can get back to his best and gel with his new team-mates.
