Superb Boniface Oluoch helped Gor Mahia record a vital 2-0 win against Bandari at Mbaraki Stadium on Sunday.
Bandari and, to a larger extent William Wadri, were unlucky as they failed to turn their numerous chances into goals including a 64th-minute penalty.
Goals from Samuel Onyango and Francis Afriyie were enough to help K'Ogalo maintain their position at the top of the table.
Bandari failed to utilise a chance created through counter-attacking in the 10th minute when Wadri powered his effort over the bar from the edge of the box.
After clearing a corner ball, the Dockers launched a quick counter-attack which was engineered by Dan Otwea, Cliff Kasuti, Abdalla Hassan and Wadri but the Ugandan was not precise in executing the final shot while standing in an open space.
Wadri attempted to test Boniface Oluoch in Gor Mahia's goal with a long-range shot but the custodian was not troubled at all by the 27th-minute strike from Bandari's man.
After Bandari's failure to make use of their sporadic chances, Onyango powered Gor Mahia ahead in the 44th minute with a low drive executed from outside the box. An outstretched Oduor could not reach the ball as it rolled past the right-hand post into the bottom corner.
After beating three Bandari defenders Ghanaian striker Afriyie curled a shot beyond Oduor to double Gor Mahia's lead in the 48th minute.
Clifton Miheso could have added the third one in the 56th minute but his free-kick hit the crossbar and the ball went back into play.
Wadri was denied again by the post in the 61st minute after he delivered a curling effort as Oluoch stood within his post helpless. The Gor Mahia defenders were quick to clear the rebound before Yema Mwana arrived to cause more havoc.
Bandari won a penalty in the 64th minute but Wadri's poor day continued as Olouch denied him twice. The Gor Mahia's goalkeeper stopped the initial shot before rising quickly to parry away the second attempt by the Ugandan forward.
The Green Army will be up against Ulinzi Stars on December 1 while Bandari will face Tusker at Ruaraka Ground on the same day.
