Carter, who recently began his own sports agency called Roc Nation Sports, is required to give up his partial ownership of the Nets in order to expand his agency to the NBA. He owns less than one percent of the team but played a key part in the team's move from New Jersey to Brooklyn.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the process of Jay-Z seeking certification by the National Basketball Players Association is expected to be completed in time for the June NBA draft, allowing Roc Nation to compete for players who will be entering the NBA.
The Daily News reported that Jay-Z will not be required as a sports agent to sell his small share of the $1 billion Barclays Center.

Utah Jazz center Enes Kanter was to have season-ending surgery on Wednesday in Chicago to repair a dislocated left shoulder. The surgery decision was made over rehabbing the shoulder to reduce the risk of further problems, Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey said, according to The Salt Lake City Tribune.
Kanter injured the shoulder during a March 27 win over the Phoenix Suns when he fought for a loose ball with the Suns' Hamed Haddadi.
