Cristiano Ronaldo will not be targeted by Bayern Munich this summer because of their “philosophy”, according to their chief executive Oliver Kahn.

Ronaldo’s future with Manchester United is up in the air at present. The forward has reportedly asked the club to consider selling him if they receive an appropriate offer.

The Portuguese legend wants to be playing in the Champions League still, which Manchester United cannot offer. Hence, there have been links with a few clubs who could satisfy that particular demand.

A move across the Premier League to Chelsea has been touted. Another suggestion has been a switch to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Bayern are bracing themselves for the potential departure of Robert Lewandowski. That said, they are standing firm over the Barcelona target’s future.

The Bundesliga champions have already acquired Sadio Mane from Liverpool to reinforce their attack. Besides, it seems a move for Ronaldo is not within their planning.

Bayern officials have already denied links with Ronaldo, although the rumours have kept going since. But now, a new message has come from chief executive Kahn.

The former goalkeeper told Kicker: “As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest, a move would not fit into our philosophy.”

Will anyone break their structure for Cristiano Ronaldo?

Indeed, at the age of 37, Ronaldo would not fit into many clubs’ transfer structures while commanding the kind of wages that a player of his status does.

But if he is intent on leaving Man Utd, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

Of course, certain players are of such a calibre that they become exceptions to the rules that clubs tend to stick to. Someone should be willing to make a push for the former Sporting, Real Madrid and Juventus man.

If not, there is one year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford. If he has to fulfil it, an intriguing season would await under the reign of Erik ten Hag – especially given the stance Ronaldo has been holding recently.
