Harry Kane isn’t the only Premier League forward Bayern Munich are looking at to replace Robert Lewandowski, as a report claims they have also set their sights on a Chelsea star.

Lewandowski got his exit wish on July 18 by swapping Bayern for Barcelona in a £42.5million (€50m) transfer. The German club had already signed Sadio Mane from Liverpool earlier in the summer, though some believe they want another new attacker as well.

This has led to rumours that Bayern may bid for Tottenham and England goalscorer Kane. It wouldn’t be easy to land him due to Daniel Levy’s firm stance.

However, Bayern have a habit of completing great deals in the transfer market and Kane might have been one of them.

But with the 29-year-old close to agreeing a new long-term contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Julian Nagelsmann’s side may have to pursue someone else.

One option under consideration is Chelsea player Kai Havertz, according to German source Sport1. They claim Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic made an enquiry to Havertz’ agent about the 23-year-old’s plans.

Salihamidzic has a close relationship with the forward’s representatives, which is where the enquiry came from.

The Bavarians will keep an eye on Havertz’ development over the next few years. They will believe they can tempt him back to the Bundesliga at some point, just like so many other Germany stars.

Harry Kane, Havertz among Bayern targets

Despite this, Bayern are unlikely to make a move for Havertz in the current transfer window. They have other strikers on their radar, although Sport1 don’t reveal exactly which ones.

Havertz is still just two years into his Chelsea adventure. He arrived for a whopping £71m fee, only to struggle during his debut campaign.

The 23-year-old did score the winner for Chelsea in the Champions League final at the end of that season, however, and he improved during his second year at Stamford Bridge.

14 goals came his way last term, which is an improvement on the nine he got the season before.

While Bayern did not actually make a bid for Havertz, it would have been very interesting to see how the player responded.

He likes Chelsea and is gearing up for a big campaign in west London. But the lure of Bayern is always a hard one to turn down. Especially when so many of his international team-mates are there.

One factor to consider may be Havertz’ relationship with the Bayer Leverkusen supporters. He spent time in their academy and got his big break there.

Havertz may think of this if Bayern come knocking for him in the next few years, which could result in a Chelsea stay.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta has been speaking about a possible move to Chelsea for former Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
