BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood has revealed she has found love with a secret boyfriend who she described as the “best thing that’s ever happened to me”.

The weather presenter opened up about her relationship with her new man, keeping his identity secret but describing him as “extremely handsome”.

In an interview with Prima Magazine, the 59-year-old, who split from husband Jimmy Kirkwood in 2008, said she doesn’t know if she would ever remarry but revealed her partner has made her the happiest she’s ever been.

“I don’t want to say too much about my boyfriend, but I will say that he is very kind and very funny - he’s always making me laugh. And extremely handsome, as well,” she said.

“He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic - it’s 2.45am and he often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work. That, to me, is worth a million red roses.

“He is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Ms Kirkwood previously discussed her divorce from property developer Jimmy with the Radio Times.

The two wed in 1990 but separated in 2008 after 18 years of marriage.

Their divorce was finalised in 2012.

“I found myself when I got divorced. I started to do things and to think, ‘I’m not going to say no, I’m going to say yes,” she said.

“I’m braver now. I’ve flown with the Red Arrows, jumped out of planes with the Red Devils.”

Following her divorce, Ms Kirkwood appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 with her dance partner Pasha Kovalev, and spoke about her love life after the demise of her marriage.

She told The Sun: “I was married for a long time, and I got married quite young, so it’s nice doing things I have the freedom to do now, if I want to go out to the theatre or go out with friends for dinner, I’ve got that freedom.”

A year after starring in the show, the presenter announced that she was seeing someone.

She told the Daily Express: “I’m very happy in my relationship status at the moment. I’m not single. I’d just started seeing somebody.”
