Ben Crooks says he would love to remain at Hull KR beyond 2022, believing that the club has a bright future ahead.

Crooks, 28, is off-contract for the 2023 campaign. He joined the club initially on loan during 2018 before making the move permanent.

The centre signed a one-year contract extension for 2022, and is hoping to extend his stay at Craven Park.

Ben Crooks on future

Speaking about his contract, Crooks said: “You get a generalised letter come first of May that the club hasn’t made a decision yet.

“The balls in my court so to speak with my performances and things like that. I don’t mind it that way. I have an agent for all the political sides of it and talks with the Paul (Lakin), so my job is just to go out there and do what I can on the field.

“Personally, I love being here and I haven’t been shy around that fact.

“I’ve made it known over the last couple of years that I love this club. I love what they’ve done for me and my family and my career.

“The future goals that this club has got and the ambitions, we are starting to prove them season on season.

“We made a semi-final last year and we made an early semi-final this year but obviously it didn’t go the way as planned and bowing out in a way that we didn’t want to bow out. But we’ve reached another semi-final and we’ve got aspirations to go further and beyond that.

“The future is really bright at this club and I’d love to be a part of that.”

Crooks is one of several names without a contract for 2023. Dean Hadley, Korbin Sims and captain Shaun Kenny-Dowall are yet to confirm their future for 2023.

Matt Parcell recently committed to a new two-year deal with the club despite links back to the NRL.
