Benjamin Sesko will not be joining either Arsenal or Chelsea this summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Slovenian striker will remain at RB Leipzig after agreeing to a new contract.

The 21-year-old had been a top target for both London clubs as they seek to try and reinforce their frontlines. Manchester United were also interested.

After Sesko managed a strong end to the season with seven goals in his last seven Bundesliga games, his initial release clause of £43million is thought to have risen to £55million. That didn't put the interested teams off though, with a fight to bring the forward to the Premier League hotting up.

However, despite some suggestions already this summer that Sesko would turn down a big offer from Leipzig, it is now reported that he will be staying in Germany. Romano says that Sesko will now have a 'gentleman's agreement' with Leipzig over a future exit.

It suggests that the player could be on the move in just 12 months time. That still comes as a blow to Arsenal and Chelsea as they aimed to boost their attacking departments.

Sesko's agent, Elvis Basanovic, had been attending games involving Chelsea, Arsenal, and United in the final months of last season. He will now be on show for fans at Euro 2024 as he prepares to take on England in Group C.
