Benson Henderson Will Get His Second Bellator Title Shot in November

After failing in his bid to win the Bellator welterweight championship, former UFC champion Benson Henderson (24-6) will get his second crack at a Bellator belt in November.

Though Henderson stumbled in his promotional debut against Bellator welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov, he bounced back with a lightweight win over former featherweight titleholder Patricio “Pitbull” Freire at Bellator 160 last week.

With the victory, Henderson was granted a shot at current lightweight champion Michael Chandler (15-3). The two will square off in the Bellator 163 main event on Nov. 19 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

The card also features a welterweight feature bout between Michael “Venom” Page (11-0) and Fernando Gonzalez (25-13), which marks the third time that the promotion has tried to put this fight together.

Chandler is currently in the midst of his second reign as champion. He originally won the belt from current UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, but then lost it back to him before Alvarez exited the promotion. Chandler regained the title in his most recent fight, knocking out Patricky “Pitbull” Freire in the Bellator 157 main event in June.
