Paris Saint-Germain are pondering a late swoop for Manchester City attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer, according to multiple reports in France.

Manchester City have lost several players from their squad this summer. They have said goodbye to the likes of Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko – all of whom have ended up with Premier League rivals.

Now, another player being linked with an exit is Bernardo Silva. The Portugal international has represented the Premier League champions since 2017, when he joined from Monaco.

Currently reflecting on his future, Silva is a target for Barcelona. The move to La Liga would appeal to him.

However, he could have the chance to return to Ligue 1 instead with PSG. According to Le10 Sport and Foot Mercato, the French champions are keen to sign Silva.

Luis Campos is playing an important part in PSG’s summer transfer business at present. He was the man who signed him for Monaco from Benfica in 2014 and remains a major admirer.

Somewhat like City have been, PSG will be giving attention to player exits during the next portion of the transfer window. But if there is scope for one more signing before the September 1 deadline, Silva is someone they will make an attempt for.

According to Foot Mercato, who were following up Le10 Sport‘s original story, Silva could cost between €80m (£66.9m) and €85m (£71.1m).

Their report also suggests that Silva would be open to a return to French football, despite his preference previously appearing to be Barcelona.

PSG an interesting option for Bernardo Silva

PSG, like Manchester City, have wealthy owners who have enabled them to dominate their domestic scene in recent years. However, Champions League honours are missing from the cabinets of both clubs.

They are each at work to strengthen accordingly to make an impression in Europe. Silva is a world-class player who could help either of their causes.

At the age of 27, he is very much in the prime of his career. He scored 13 goals in all competitions last season, matching the best return of his career.

Under contract with Man City until 2025, there would be no particular hurry to see the back of him. But in a summer in which City have earned praise for balancing the books, they could make a further positive impression by cashing in on Silva.

That said, they won’t want to leave themselves too short in the attacking areas. There would be a lot to weigh up for both the club and their player.
