Besiktas defender Dusko Tosic claims he has never been impressed by Real Madrid and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo whenever he has played against him.
The 32-year-old was adamant in his belief that Ronaldo has only ever been a peripheral figure when the pair have faced off and added he would not take either the former Manchester United forward or Barcelona ace Lionel Messi instead of any of his Besiktas team-mates.
"I would not replace anyone at Besiktas in favour of Messi or Ronaldo," Tosic told Fanatik, as quoted by Four Four Two.
"I love my team-mates and my team.
"Besides, I played against Ronaldo in the past and he never impressed me. He played like he was not even there."
Despite Ronaldo and Messi dominating Spanish football for almost a decade, winning a combined nine Ballon d'Or awards between them, Tosic evidently prefers the attacking talents of Cenk Tosun, Anderson Talisca, Vincent Aboubakar and Ryan Babel.
It remains to be seen just how Ronaldo will take the criticism from Tosic, who himself has made 19 international appearances for Serbia, but given that he's experienced incredible success throughout his career it seems unlikely a major feud between the two will break out.
Ronaldo and Messi remain two of the finest players to grace football pitches both in the modern game and throughout the history of the game, having set unprecedented records at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, while Tosic has made a name for himself after helping Besiktas to two consecutive Super Lig titles.
