Craig Dawson says the best is yet to come for West Ham after the Hammers climbed into the Premier League's top four on Tuesday night.

The defender, on loan from Watford, scored his first Premier League goal for West Ham to secure victory at Crystal Palace after Tomas Soucek's brace had countered an opener from Wilfried Zaha. Michy Batshuayi scored late but the Hammers were more than deserving and could have won far more comfortably.

Dawson has been a revelation since coming into the side at Southampton before Christmas and has proved a shrewd signing following early ridicule.

Manager David Moyes has said there is room for improvement still and Dawson is not about to disagree.

“Is the best yet to come? Yeah definitely," he said. "Everyone is working very hard in training and that is showing on the pitch so hopefully that continues.

“There is plenty of competition for places and that helps everyone.

“It is nice to get a goal. Disappointed to concede two goals but a good performance from everyone.”
