Berger began the fourth leg for Norway just 26 seconds clear, but after some flawless shooting the Vancouver Olympic champion had too much for the rest of the field as she finished off to give the Norwegians a final time of 1:08.13.2, 54 seconds clear of the Russians.

Their success was based on some impressive shooting, with just four missed targets over the four legs. The trio of Hilde Fenne, Ann Kristen Aafedt Flatland and Synnoeve Solemdal gave Berger the perfect platform to continue her success this season which has seen her dominate the individual events so far.

Norway's victory was also enough to leapfrog the Ukraine and move them to the top of the world standings with the pre-race leaders finishing back in seventh.

They now have 160 points, seven clear of the Ukraine, with the Russians completing the podium after their second-placed finish.

On home soil the Germans had to settle for fourth, missing out by just four seconds despite the efforts of 22-year-old Miriam Gossner on the second leg.
