Both Boe and Makarainen headed into the final day having won the two sprint events staged and they wouldn't be denied as they ensured total dominance in the pursuit.

Boe won by 16.3 seconds ahead of Martin Fourcade in 33:37.1 minutes with Bjorn Ferry third while home town girl Makarainen got the better of Darya Domracheva and Olga Zaitseva.

Makarainen clocked 30:52.0 for victory by exactly a minute while second in the men's pursuit did give Fourcade the overall World Cup title for the third year running.

He is also in pole position in the race for the pursuit World Cup while Makarainen leads Tora Berger in both that discipline's standings as well as overall with one round to go in Norway.
