German Henkel went the first 12 races of the season without tasting victory, although the signs that she was heading in the right direction were there for all to see in her last race as she finished the 7.5km sprint second.

And she went one better in her second Antholz outing, taking the lead after the final standing stage and holding off Belarusian Nadezhda Skardino to win in 31:04.5 minutes.

Skardino was 1.6 seconds further back to finish second while Tora Berger was third despite picking up three penalties.

Henkel's victory means she now sits ninth in the overall World Cup standings whilst Berger stretched her lead at the top.

Norwegian Berger moved on to 461 points with her podium finish with Belarus' Darya Domracheva six further back in second after finishing fifth in Antholz, Finn Kaisa Makarainen currently occupying third on 444.
