Big innings allow Troup to storm past Elysian Fields, 11-3

Mar. 15—ELYSIAN FIELDS — Five Troup Tigers stroked two hits apiece as the Maroon and White hammered Elysian Fields, 11-3, Friday night in Elysian Fields.

Troup, who is 11-3 overall, evened its district slate at 1-1 with the win.

Troup cobbled together a pair of big innings in securing the win. The Tigers sent four runners in to score in the fourth inning and five in the fifth.

Hayden Huml clubbed a triple and a base hit while driving in two Troup runs, Carson Davenport forged out a double to go along with a base hit, Caden Graves had two hits and two RBI, Colby Turner pitched in a pair of hits and an RBI and Ty Lovelady clubbed two singles while driving in a run.

The Tigers out hit the Yellowjackets (5-6-1, 1-2) 13-7.

Turner worked six innings on the hump and gave up one earned run on five hits. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday the Tigers will play host to Waskom.
