Bigger world clubs are going to be looking at Aston Villa boss Unai Emery - and rightly so

Former Aston Villa defender James Collins has tipped Unai Emery for new job offers after the Spaniard's achievements in two years at Villa Park.

Emery arrived in the West Midlands in November 2022, succeeding Steven Gerrard who had Villa languishing just above the relegation at the time of his sacking. Since then, the 53-year-old manager has taken the Lions to the UEFA Europa Conference League in that same season and guided the club into the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1983.

Speaking on Arsenal and England legend David Seaman's betway podcast ' Seaman Says ', Collins tipped Emery for a move one of Europe's elite clubs.

"Any manager that does what Emery has done at Villa is going to be talked about," Collins said. "What he’s done, but not just him, the club in general – the way they’ve backed him, the money they’ve spent.

“Obviously, the fan base at Villa is huge. So, it is a big club but it’s football. If he’s doing well as a manager, there are going to be the super clubs that are going to be looking at him because they all want success. He’s clearly a top top manager so the bigger world clubs are going to be looking at him and rightly so because he’s done a great job.”

Despite the Welsh former centre back's comments, it is hard to picture Emery being drawn to anywhere other than an extended stay at Villa Park. With his unprecedented success at Villa Park, he has undoubtedly become a figure to admire across European football, however, he has received backing like no other with the Villans which is a huge reason for his triumphs.

There is no reason for the Spaniard to jump ship at this point in time with him having everything he desires at Villa and with very few other clubs proving to be a step up; even those few clubs, such as Barcelona and Real Madrid, do not require new managers at this point in time.

In addition, Emery has tried his hand at clubs who had a higher status than the Claret and Blues at the time. He held the tough job of succeeding Arsene Wenger at Arsenal which he was eventually dismissed of and took the reins of one of football's most pressured jobs with Paris Saint-Germain, unable to complete the seemingly impossible job of achieving Champions League glory but winning a league title and six cups domestically.

With all that in mind, a move would be a considerable shock even with Villa experiencing a sticky patch at present.
