A biker and his passenger have suffered serious injuries in a crash with a BMW.

The incident occurred on Sunday (May 28) at around 4.40pm on Garstang Road, between Great Eccleston and Windy Harbour, when a Kawasaki motorbike and a BMW X3 car crashed.

The motorcyclist – a man in his 40s and from Fleetwood – was taken to hospital, where he remains.

A passenger on the bike – a woman in her 40s and from Blackpool – suffered multiple broken bones.

The road was closed for several hours while specialist collision investigators attended and police are now appealing for witnesses as they piece together exactly what occurred.

Sgt Paul McCurrie, of the Lancashire Police SpecOps team, said: “First and foremost we are sending our very best wishes to the two people on the motorbike as they recover.

“An investigation is now underway and we would like to speak to anyone with information about this incident.

"Perhaps you saw the collision and have not yet spoken to police, perhaps you saw either of the vehicles in the moments before it occurred, or maybe you have dashcam or CCTV showing the vehicles in the area.

“Whatever you know, please let us know.”

Anybody with information should call 101, quoting log 1041 of May 28.
