Bills sign All-Pro CB Tre'Davious White to 4-year, $70M extension

One of the NFL’s best cornerbacks is staying in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bills have signed All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White to a four-year extension, the team announced Saturday.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $70 million over four years with $55 million guaranteed.

The contract’s $17.5 million average annual value makes White the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, per OverTheCap. His $55 million guarantee is also the highest for a cornerback in NFL history. Under his rookie deal, White was slated to make $1.8 million this season, then $10.2 million under his fifth-year option.

Tre’Davious White became a top CB last year

The massive deal rewards White for a breakout 2019 season in which the third-year player earned first-team All-Pro honors and tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with six.

With White locking down receivers, the 10-6 Bills’ defense ranked second in the NFL in points allowed. In addition to his interceptions, White finished the season with 58 tackles, 17 pass breakups and one sack. Per Pro Football Focus, White did not allow a single touchdown in coverage.

The performance completed a three-year ascension for White, whom the Bills selected out of LSU with the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
