Birmingham City's victory in the FA Cup second round at Blackpool on Sunday has meant they've progressed into the third round weekend in January - and that'll mean more football for boss Chris Davies to prepare his players for.

Blues eased past the Tangerines at Bloomfield Road thanks to goals from Lyndon Dykes and Lukas Jutkiewicz and, tonight, they'll discover who they'll be playing in the third round as the Premier League and Championship teams enter the competition.

Blues have, remarkably, played 22 matches already this season. There are still 31 games remaining of their League One season, while they've progressed into the next rounds of both the FA Cup and the EFL Trophy, the latter competition they're the favourites to win altogether.

The third round of the FA Cup - for which the draw takes place at 7pm on BBC Two on Monday evening - is due to be played out across the weekend of the 11th and 12th of January, with televised selections also likely to take place on Friday 10th and Monday 13th, too. That weekend Blues are pencilled in to have a league fixture.

On the 11th, as things stand, they're due to welcome Leyton Orient to St Andrew's; they beat the Londoners at Brisbane Road in the reverse fixture, back at the very beginning of the season but the O's visit will now be postponed because of the results over the weekend - Orient also progressed into the 3rd round.

The new date for the fixture is expected to be confirmed in due course, but it will be yet another game moved for Davies and co to take into account. Because of the number of internationals in the squad currently, they've also had to reschedule games due to take place in September, October and November since the beginning of the campaign, too.
