Birmingham City receive huge injury boost before Northampton Town clash
Krystian Bielik is back in the mix for Birmingham City after a month out with an ankle injury.
Blues captain Bielik has come through training unscathed this week and should come into contention for a place in the squad to face Northampton Town. Blues host the 18th-placed Cobblers at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Saturday (3pm).
And Chris Davies will be able to call on Bielik for the first time since Blues were defeated 1-0 by Charlton. In the six games Bielik has missed, loanee Ben Davies has partnered Christoph Klarer at the back to keep Blues ticking along at the top of League One.

Speaking from Blues’ training ground on Thursday, manager Davies said of Bielik: “He’s had a good week’s training and done very well, looked sharp, so he’s pretty much there now.”

Left-back Lee Buchanan is building up his fitness after three months out with two separate calf injuries, meaning Scott Wright and Emil Hansson are the only players left in Blues’ treatment room.
Davies added: “We had a flurry of injuries a few weeks ago but now we’ve got two that are really out in Scott and Emil and a couple of others who are building their way back in. That sets us up pretty well for the winter months. Once we come back after the international break, there’s a lot of fixtures and colder weather.
“The whole thing was about getting a good squad with depth, and now it’s about how we recover and train to maintain a healthy squad.”
