Bloomington South swim to sectional title at EC

Feb. 6—ST. LEON — East Central hosted the consolation and final round of the IHSAA girls swim sectional Saturday.

Bloomington South won the team title with 502 points. Columbus North was a distant second with 323 and Bloomington South was third with 314. Batesville finished eighth, Greensburg 10th and Oldenburg Academy 13th.

The top eight places from the preliminary round on Thursday qualified for the final. The next eight places advanced to the consolations.

In the 200 medley relay, Batesville's team of Taylor Blanton, Sarah Bedel, Isabel Raab and Emma Miller took fifth in 2:05.85. Oldenburg's team of Sara Lamping, Avery Austin, Caroline Niese and Claire Walke finished 12th in 2:27.91.

Greensburg's Brenley Jameson placed 15th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:15.99. Jameson returned to place 10th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.81.

In the 200 individual medley, Greensburg's Lilly Corya touched the wall in eighth place with a time of 2:32.77. Corya was also ninth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.80. Corya's time was a personal best and is eighth fastest all-time at Greensburg.

Batesville's Raab placed ninth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.66. Raab also placed 15th in the 100 butterfly in 1:13.85.

Batesville's Bedel was 14th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:00.92 and 12th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.06.

Batesville's 200 freestyle relay team of Samantha Adams, Ella Moster, Bedel and Raab finished in a seventh place time of 1:54.14.

Oldenburg's 200 freestyle relay team of Austin, Walke, Niese and Lamping finished 10th in 2:09.88.

Batesville's Taylor Blanton touched the way 16th with a time of 1:15.51 in the 100 backstroke.

In the final event of the day, Greensburg's 400 freestyle relay team of Jameson, Elizabeth Walden, Alaina Hostetler and Corya placed seventh in 4:21.15. Batesville's team of Adams, Blanton, Megan Siefert and Miller finished ninth in 4:32.27.
