Carlisle United must upset the odds if they are to claim a vital victory against Cumbrian rivals Barrow tonight.

Mark Hughes' side are 3/1 with BetFred to defeat Andy Whing's hosts at the SO Legal Stadium.

Other winning odds for the Blues include 13/5 (SkyBet), 29/10 (888Sport) and 14/5 (UniBet).

By contrast, Barrow are odds-on with some bookies to claim their first league win against Carlisle since April 1960.

BetFred price a Bluebirds win at 5/6, with Ladbrokes offering 19/20 and William Hill offering Evens.

The draw at Holker Street is 12/5.

Carlisle are aiming to end a run of three games without a goal in tonight's 8pm televised encounter.

Cedwyn Scott and Joe Hugill are both 9/1 to get the first goal.

Joe Bevan is 19/2 for the opener with Matt Dennis 10/1 and Kadeem Harris 15/1.

Other first-scorer prices in the United ranks include Stephen Wearne at 12/1, Elliot Embleton at 14/1, Will Patching at 22/1, Callum Guy at 33/1 and Sam Lavelle at 40/1.

Already this season Carlisle have seen the son of one of their former managers score against them, when Calum Kavanagh netted the winner for Bradford City at Brunton Park.

A similar risk is present tonight with Aaron Pressley, son of Steven, in the Barrow ranks. The striker is 6/1 to fire the opening goal.

Tyler Smith, who played under Hughes at Bradford, is also 6/1.

Other first scorer odds for Barrow include Connor Mahoney at 17/2, Ben Whitfield at 9/1, Robbie Gotts at 14/1 and Theo Vassell at 16/1.

Carlisle's last trip to Barrow saw a 1-0 win under Paul Simpson in April 2023, and a repeat of that result tonight is priced 9/1.

A 2-1 victory for the Blues is 12/1, while a third straight 0-0 draw for Hughes' side is 79/10.

Barrow are 11/2 for a 1-0 win and 8/1 to win 2-0 - while a repeat of their most recent home league win against Carlisle, 5-1 in 1960, is 160/1.

A third consecutive clean sheet for United and keeper Gabe Breeze tonight is 11/4, while Barrow's ex-Blues No1 Paul Farman is 7/5 to deny his former club any goals.
