Boateng to sign Las Palmas extension next week - club president

The Yellows have won the race to secure the Ghanaian's signature for next season

Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng will extend his stay with Spanish outfit Las Palmas next week, according to club president Miguel Angel Ramirez.

The German-born, who joined the Yellows in 2016, is in the last days of his current one-year deal, with a host of top clubs up on his heels due to his impressive form in La Liga.

Las Palmas, though, have never given up in the fight to convince the 30-year-old for an extended stay at Estadio de Gran Canaria, and it now appears Quique Setien's side are having their wish granted.

"Boateng is going to continue at Las Palmas but I do not know why nobody believes it," Ramirez told Radio Marca on Friday.

"He will sign next week for one more year.

"We are very pleased with his performance."

Although Ramirez says Boateng will sign another one-year contract, earlier reports said the Ghanaian will pen a deal which keeps him at the club until 2020.

Boateng has been Las Palmas' star man this campaign, currently standing as the leading scorer in La Liga with 10 goals - his best season record till date.

The former AC Milan and Schalke 04 midfielder has featured 26 times so far, making the starting list on 23 occasions.

Valencia are reportedly one the top sides currently giving their all to persuade the Ghanaian away.
