Bolton to contest Spurs tie

Bolton games to go ahead

Bolton's fixture against Aston Villa on Tuesday night was cancelled in the wake of the cardiac arrest suffered by midfielder Fabrice Muamba in an FA Cup sixth-round tie against Tottenham last weekend.

The club were unwilling to fulfil the fixture with Muamba in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital and manager Owen Coyle and a steady stream of team-mates appearing by his bedside.

However, Muamba's condition has notably improved and he is speaking and moving unaided. Bolton have subsequently said that, in accordance with the wishes of his family, they will host Blackburn on Saturday and return to White Hart Lane for the rescheduled FA Cup tie.

The game will take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm at White Hart Lane.

Manager Owen Coyle said: "We spoke together with the players as a group this morning and I talked with Fabrice's family last night.

"Fabrice's father Marcel and his fiancée Shauna were keen that we fulfil our fixtures. Once the players knew this, there was no doubt in our minds that we would play the matches."
