“I’ve felt pretty exhausted for much of the last eight months but we can’t wait to meet this little one.

“Wilf is [very] excited about being a big brother again, and has been chattering about it non-stop. Don’t think Romy has a clue what’s coming... She soon will!”

The former prime minister and his wife already have two children together: Romy, aged one, and Wilfred, aged three.

Mr Johnson, who resigned from his post in 2022, has plenty of practice with newborns and the latest edition is his eighth child.

He has four children with his ex-wife Marina Wheeler and one with former mistress Helen Macintyre.

However, his exact number of children remains in doubt as a possible eighth child was once alluded to in court documents.

The Standard takes a look at Mr Johnson’s past relationships and what his children are up to now.

Lara Lettice

Lara Lettice, 27, is the oldest of Boris Johnson’s four children with his barrister ex-wife Marina Wheeler. The pair married in 1993 after his divorce from his first wife Allegra Mostyn-Owen.

Lara was educated at Bedales School, followed by the University of St Andrews where she earned a degree in Latin and Comparative Literature.

She went on to become a successful fashion and arts journalist, working as features editor at SHOWStudio and later writing for Tatler and Vogue.

In September 2021, she appeared on the front cover of Tatler - modelling Rigby & Peller shapewear as part of a feature about body positivity.

Stephanie Macintyre

Stephanie Macintyre is Mr Johnson’s fifth child who he fathered while he was Mayor of London in 2009.

He had previously denied being her father after having an affair with art consultant Helen Macintyre.

However, the Court of Appeal in 2013 ruled it was in the public interest for the details of his extra marital affair to be known.

During their ruling, the three judges involved suggested there may have been a second child from Mr Johnson’s affair. No details are known about the alleged second child.

In an interview with NBC in September 2021, Mr Johnson said he had six children.

Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas

Wilfred, a boy, was born on April 29, 2020.

He is Mr Johnson’s first child with his now wife Carrie.

Boris Johnson is usually coy about his private life and does not discuss his children in public.

Asked by LBC’s Nick Ferrari in 2019 how many children he was father to, Mr Johnson replied: “I love my children very much but they are not standing at this election.

“I am not going to put them onto the pitch in their election campaign when I think what people want to hear is what my plans are for the country, what this government is determined to do and how we are going to take this country forward.

“That is the way all parties should be judged.”

Romy Iris Charlotte

Romy is the second child that Boris Johnson has had with his wife Carrie.

She was born on December 9, 2021, at the University College London hospital.

Her first name was first revealed to reporters by Mr Johnson during a visit to a vaccination centre in Kent.

Later, Carrie shared their child’s full name on Instagram in a post.

She wrote: “Romy after my aunt, Rosemary. Iris from the Greek, meaning rainbow. Charlotte after Boris' late mum whom we miss so much."

Adding: “Wilf has been stroking Romy's hair, giving big kisses and playing with his matchbox cars right next to her crib, just in case she feels like joining in too.”
