Borough Market grinds to a halt as hundreds of jubilant England fans halt traffic after 6-1 defeat of Panama

Hundreds of England fans stopped traffic in central London as they celebrated England’s barnstorming 6 – 1 win over Panama .

Incredible videos showed thrilled fans spill out into the streets around Borough Market as Gareth Southgate’s men stormed to a record-breaking victory in their second World Cup clash.

Revellers chanted and waved England flags in the road as traffic struggled to pass.

Huge celebrations took place across the capital as jubilant scenes erupted at nearby Flat Iron Square and in Croydon's Box Park.

The stunning win came as temperatures in the capital soared to 25C.

One person tweeted: “Rowdy times in London Bridge.”

Another added: “Celebrations in #BoroughMarket stopping traffic.”

Captain Harry Kane led the side to a barnstorming 6-1 win over Panama at the World Cup, sending millions of Brits across the country into a football frenzy.

England put six past the Central American nation, with Kane bagging a hat-trick. Panama managed to claw one back in the final minutes of the game.

It is the first time the England squad has ever scored that many goals in a game during the World Cup. The previous record was the four they scored against West Germany in 1966.

Defender John Stones netted two goals and Jesse Lingard one.

Kane told BBC One: "I'm so, so proud of the boys, we're just enjoying it, just enjoying being here."

The England win sees the team sail through the group stage of the 2018 World Cup.

An estimated extra four million pints were expected to be consumed during the game.

England fans in the stadium in Russia were thrown into frenzy with each goal and could be heard chanting with glee from the stands.
