George Boughey's surprise 1000 Guineas winner Cachet is ready to cash in on a Guineas double with an assault on the French version.

The 16/1 winner of the second English Classic of the season at Newmarket is "more likely than not" to go for the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches at ParisLongchamp says Boughey.

Already a winner of the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket last month, the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing filly stepped up to a mile and wouldn't be denied at HQ in the 1000 Guineas, beating Ralph Beckett's Prosperous Voyage by a neck. Highclere's managing director, Harry Herbert hadn't quite recovered from the emotional high of the syndicate taking such a huge race. He said: "We don't want to, but we're coming down slowly but surely! "We all know how hard it is. It's taken 30 years to get the blue colours in front in a Classic in this country, which just shows how hard it is. "It was a wonderful day for everyone involved and I still can't quite believe it." Highclere can take a lesiurely approach to the filly's future with such a prestigious race under her saddle but Herbert expects the three-year-old to take up the Guineas double challenge over the Channel before heading to Royal Ascot for the Group 1 Coronation Stakes. "We're still in discussion, but we will certainly look very closely at the French Guineas," he added. "It's up for discussion and I expect at the moment it's more likely than not, but we just want to absolutely see how she comes out of the race. She seems fine and George is thrilled to bits with her. "She's pretty versatile ground-wise. She has obviously proven she likes top of the ground and has a wonderful action for top of the ground, but she has gone on easy ground as well. "I suppose with the way she races and the way she quickens, faster ground will probably suit better." The Royal Ascot meeting runs from Tuesday June 14 to Saturday June 18 2022 and is considered a premier test for class flat horses internationally.
