Boxing: Anthony Joshua's next opponent is Eric Dier?

Boxer Anthony Joshua confirmed on Twitter that he's set to go head-to-head with Tottenham defender Eric Dier, much to the Olympic champion's surprise.

Dele Alli uploaded a video onto the social media site of his teammate Eric Dier working on his agility with some boxing training, and tagged Joshua in the post, suggesting a clash between the pair.

Dier takes a flurry of jabs and uppercuts against a Tottenham trainer, and the continued camaraderie and banter between the two players led to Alli attempting to engineer a fight between Dier and Joshua, who has won every one of his fights by knockout.

Joshua eventually replied, and confirmed to a fan that he was 'apparently' fighting the Tottenham midfielder, according to his 'promoter' Alli.

While the match-up would make for a pretty hilarious encounter, Spurs fans will probably be urging Dier to turn down the opportunity to fight Joshua, as they would probably prefer him to be without a concussion or a broken nose before they play Manchester City on Sunday.

Tottenham have surprised pundits and bookmakers this season as title contenders, and sit in second behind Leicester. With the Foxes travelling to Arsenal in another key fixture, securing a result at the Etihad will be vital for Dier, Alli and their teammates.
