In June 2012, Olubamiwo was suspended for four years after multiple anti-doping rule violations after testing positive for the blood-boosting substance EPO on January 13 following his loss to Sam Sexton - a fight which was halted in the fifth round due to a bad Sexton cut and went to the scorecards. He admitted to taking 13 banned substances, including human growth hormone and anabolic steroids.
It is understood that his cooperation with the BBBoC and UK Anti-Doping has led to other athletes being caught for using banned substances, and is the reason for the heavily reduced ban.
Olubamiwo, 35, will be managed and promoted by Steve Goodwin, who has plenty of heavyweights in his stable, including Medway's Tom Dallas, Brixton's Iain Lewison and Vauxhall's explosive rookie AJ Carter.
