Selby switches from the Bolton show on June 29 to the outdoor show two weeks later, which is topped by the debut of Olympic Gold medalist Luke Campbell MBE.
31 year old Simion won the WBC International featherweight title in July 2011 and has defended it twice since. He has travelled away from his native Romania on two occasions - a split decision points win over eight rounds in Canada to Mexican Pedro Navarrete, and a trip to Spain in 2007, when he stopped Colombian Euclides Espitia in the fourth of six rounds.
Welshman Selby claimed the British and Commonwealth titles in style against Stephen Smith back in 2011, and has defended against John Simpson, Martin Lindsay Patrick Okine and Corey O’Connell.
Selby’s promoter Eddie Hearn said: “I’m delighted to have been able to bring Viorel over for this fight. It’s Lee’s first big test on the World stage and having watched Viorel in action, I think we can expect a cracking fight where Lee will show everybody just how good he is.”
Luke Campbell’s debut is also supported by the welterweight rematch between Sheffield's Kell Brook and American Carson Jones, Scouser Derry Mathews against Hull’s Tommy Coyle for the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title, English super middleweight champion Rocky Fielding, unbeaten Islington middleweight John Ryder, Driffield Troll Hunter Curtis Woodhouse and local talents Joel Haigh and Zak Collins.
