Buckland is a former three-time Welsh School Boy titlist as well as securing three Welsh Youth titles and three British Youth titles in the unpaid code.

Still only a teenager at 19, Mitchell paid tribute to his opponent Mill’s at a press conference yesterday.

“He’s a strong and tough boy and I know that he will train hard.”

In addition, Buckland seems to be relishing the challenge for the first eight round bout of his career.

“It will be my first eight-round fight. But training with my Brother Gary and Lee Selby in the gym, I know I’m fit”

He is coming into the fight with four straight wins under his belt and he may have shown signs of a latent punch as he stopped his first opponent last time out in Newport.

Mills’ record is fairly unimpressive, with seven wins and defeats respectively. However, Dean massively upset the odds in his last contest in flooring and stopping former WBU champion David Burke last time out in February. It was a shocking four-round demolition of a combacking star in front of thousands of hometown supporters.

And the Bridgewater fighter has clearly demonstrated that he belongs in title class after putting in highly competitive losing performances against former champions Lenny Daws and Gary Skyes respectively. In addition, he outpointed former English super-featherweight champion Ryan Barratt.

Now, at 25, Mills is desperate to capitalize on his third title try.

“I feel I was robbed in first attempt against Mark McCullough, and after losing the fight against Michael Frontin who really peaked against me I’m looking forward to the challenge against Buckland”.
