The fight of the night was an entertaining scrap, scored a close 95-97 in favour of the South Londoner. This was Pettitt’s second crack at a Southern Area title, as he looks to target the English belt next.
Pettitt edged the opening couple of rounds. Speight then began to come out on top over the following three, and at the midway point the 25 year old from Devon was likely leading on the scorecards. Pettitt then dug deep and landed the cleaner shots from the sixth round to the closing bell.
The second Southern Area title fight on the bill was a local light heavyweight battle with Swanley champion Leon Senior (10-1) outpointing Dan Woodgate (10-2) by a 97-94 margin.
The undercard featured convincing wins for Brighton light middle Lloyd Ellett (11-0), Peckham welter Johnny Garton (10-0), St. Helens lightweight Adam Dingsdale (9-0) and Surrey debutant Brett Beadon.
