The 23-year-old from Hertfordshire, who remains unbeaten in the middleweight division, dominated the contest and gave early indications he would finish the fight within 12 rounds.

But Manchester's Hall deserves credit after ensuring the bout went the distance.

Beijing Olympian Saunders attacked from the first bell and by the third round he was confident enough for a spot of showboating.

Hall retreated into a more defensive style, allowing Saunders to mount a sustained attack in the fourth, his advances including an upper cut and a flurry of body shots.

Hall responded well in the fifth as Saunders failed to capitalise on his early promise before the action momentarily abated slightly.

The fight sparked back into life in the seventh with both fighters landing decent blows but afterwards Saunders's quality began to show as he effectively sealed the points win in rounds eight and nine.

With Hall needing a knockout for victory, Saunders upped his game as the contest drew to a close, merely affirming his domination as he saw out the fight to retain his belts.
