Tyson, who has tried his hand at movies and Broadway since his retirement from an explosive and controversial career, will debut his Iron Mike Promotions brand as part of the ‘Friday Night Fights’ season.

The current season has been extended by a week from its original August 16 finale to instead conclude with the Tyson card, to be held at the Turning Stone Resort Casino.

The main event will see Dominican super-featherweight Argenis Mendez make the first defence of his IBF title against Canada’s Arash Usmanee.

"We are thrilled to be finishing off the 'Friday Night Fights' season with Mike Tyson's first-ever fight card as a promoter," said ESPN senior director of programming and acquisitions Brian Kweder.

"The quality of the card that he and his team have put together for boxing fans is fantastic."

The event will also see unbeaten Claudio Marrero take on Jesus Andreas Cuellar at featherweight in the chief support bout.

Tyson, known during his heyday as ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’, plans to attend the card and may even take part in the televised coverage.

If he does, Tyson will encounter a reunion of sorts with ringside pundit Teddy Atlas, who used to serve as his assistant trainer during ‘Iron’ Mike’s amateur days until a bitter falling out 30 years ago which saw Atlas pull a gun on Tyson over the boxer’s advances towards a young female relative of his.
