Guy Branston hopes his new website will help the next generation of footballers

Aldershot defender Guy Branston is turning his attention to the next generation of footballers after starting up a business which helps put them in the spotlight.

Branston, with over 450 senior appearances to his name at a host of Football League clubs, has set up the 'all about ballerz' website, which enables footballing talent from Under-15 level right through to the professional game to upload a video of themselves and get their skills seen by a wider audience.

The idea came to the former Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday, Torquay, Bradford and Peterborough man, who is currently with League Two Aldershot, when a Football League ruling saw him drop into non-league and fall off the radar of prospective new employers.

"I was in the abyss, I'd played for three Football league clubs in a season so had to drop out of the League," Branston, 33, told Press Association Sport.

"I had managers ringing me up trying to sign me, asking if I was fit. I was telling them I was fit, but they said they needed to see DVDs of me before signing me.

"I didn't have any and that's when something twigged, three years ago. I started to develop ideas in my mind about how it would be easier for managers to get information about players.

"Knowing the cut-throat industry that football is, I wanted to think about how I could help footballers get seen easier.

"This is a centralised place where players can load up videos to get seen and be noticed at all levels."
